Three and Four Year Olds

Stimulating and exciting environment.

We separate three and four year olds into our Caterpillar room or Butterfly room.  Both rooms are bright, spacious and stimulating environments.
The classroom is a home away from home a happy place full of friends where children can be themselves. It is a place full of interesting things to do, but also a place where children can take time out and just be quiet if they want to.

Learning new skills

The layout of the classroom encourages exploration, communication and the development of relationships on all levels. Everything reflects a dedication to quality, beauty and to the children's abilities to do things for themselves. Montessori saw that careful preparation of the environment is an essential ingredient for the successful development of children.

The mixture of foundation stage development goals and Montessori surroundings provides the children with enriched learning experiences within a beautiful environment designed to awaken their senses.

Montessori Activities

Staff apply the Montessori theories within the setting teaching the children to be in touch with their environment and demonstrating how to do things and encouraging them to be independent
The very first activities in a Montessori nursery develop the child’s ability to look after themselves and their environment and encourage respect for their surroundings and each other.
It is one of Montessori’s principles to always follow nature. Whenever the child tends to act spontaneously and constructively in any particular way Montessori methods help the child along their path.

Wide range of Activities

Fully trained and experienced staff implement weekly topics and plans to fulfil the child’s day with a variety of activities that not only engage the child but cover the early years curriculum, additionally we will provide sessions of football, music, yoga and dance delivered by qualified teachers who are invited weekly to offer these classes to the children.

Children also benefit from learning about their world and others around them through the medium of monthly cultural topics that are fully planned and researched by the staff and management, any input and involvement from parents and families is welcomed and encouraged by the nursery.

Preparation for School

From an early age the child’s mathematical mind is supported and developed. Activities are planned and organised to implement this.  Language and maths is taught on a one to one basis and at the child’s own pace.   This is a crucial age and staff at Townsend Montessori strive to arm the children with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for their next step.  Into the school classroom.
